Before WWII the Trattoria della Stella was the property of a local character known as Virgilio who liked to drink in the company of his paesani but who closed his doors when the train brought the rare tourist to town.
After the war, Francesco Ferrari, nicknamed Franzi, bought the restaurant. Together, with the help of his wife, Giovanna, they brought prestige to the restaurant, serving simple honest typical dishes. Working with them was a boy of 14 years, Gianni, who hurried with dexterously from table to table.
When Franzi tired of the business he sold it to loyal Gianni, who courageously took on the establishment with the help of his family.
Aldo Trionfo directed the ambience of the restaurant along with art directors and sculptures such as Luca Crippa and Giorgio Panni.
All of this was done in the name of great friendship and for the desire to create an establishment worthy of the place they loved, Vernazza.
