In Vernazza in Piazza Marconi, the "salon of the Cinque Terre" you will find Trattoria Gianni Franzi.
Formerly known as the "Trattoria Della Stella" a half century ago, the restaurant was purchased by Gianni Viacava in the 1960's. From then on it became known as the obbligatory stop for those who want to taste the typical cuisine of the Cinque Terre and the restaurant aficionados of Liguria.
The secret of its fame is in the preparation of the dishes (a good part of which are fish based) and in its fidelity to the antique Ligurian recepies which remain unaltered, without frivolous interpretation.
The stuffed anchovies, lemon anchovies, stuffed fish ravioli, "Genovese soup", stockfish, stuffed muscles, the famous "Vernazza tegame", pasta with pesto and the quality fish, grilled and baked, are the specialty dishes of the restaurant. Recently the wine selection has been umplified for a wider range of taste.
